Superior performance is obtained on Western Red Cedar or California Redwood, less durable timbers will require coating more frequently. On extremely hard timbers, performance will be reduced due to lack of penetration and therefore maintenance will be required more often. Similarly on surfaces subject to continued wetting and drying (eg. decks around pools, gardens and lawns) will require more regular maintenance.
